What is the Jinga Experience – About Experience Travel
FIRST THINGS FIRST, Jinga isn’t here to take you on standard tours.
Don’t get me wrong, the Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the 7 wonders of the world, and the famous gondola up the Sugar Loaf Mountain are certainly places worth visiting. The pictures you take may make you smile when you first arrive home… and then 10 years later (“honey, remember when we did that?”). But trust us, you don’t need a guide for that.
Why pay for something that is already touristy?
Travel is no longer about snapping pictures of famous monuments or going to the same places that you find over and over in travel books. Travel is about experiences. New ones. Travel is about learning something. Opening your mind. Immersing yourself in a new country. A new culture.
We live the Carioca* (Brazilian) lifestyle. And we want you to as well. Welcome to the Jinga Experience; trust us, you won’t regret it.
So what’s the best way to do that?
Living there, of course. There is certainly no substitute for new life experiences like picking up and moving to a brand new, exciting and culturally rich city. But, we assume, you are already living somewhere. Maybe you have a job, maybe you’re retired, maybe you just don’t feel like moving. You can’t live everywhere you’d like to visit.
This is where Jinga comes in.
If you think you can immerse yourself in a new culture by coming to a major metropolis like Rio de Janeiro on your own in a span of 2 weeks, I hate to break it to you, but you’re wrong. You may meet some Brazilians, but they’ll probably just want to sell you Havaianas* or Brazilian flag towels. You may even drink some caipirinhas* or learn to dance a little Samba, but as you’re on the flight back home, will you be thinking ‘Wow, that was one of the most amazing adventures of my life?’ Probably not.
How come? Because you need locals for that. You need people that know the city inside and out. That’s what we pay for when we travel. And those are the experiences we provide for our travelers.
How about some freshly grilled white fish on a deserted beach just outside the city? Check please! Dance the night away in street parties you won’t find in any travel guide? Yes ma’am! Zig zag through the streets of vibrant hillside communities on a moto(rcycle) taxi to hike a mountain with better views than the Christ statue? Hell yeah!
This is what Experience travel is all about. We are not your guide. We are your friend—the one that you always call before going out to find out what’s going on, the friend that always knows the great new restaurant in town.
We are your connection to enter this new world. We are your connection to Brazil.
We live the Carioca* (Brazilian) lifestyle. And we want you to as well. Welcome to the Jinga Experience and to Experience Travel; trust us, you won’t regret it.
